“The Ancestors” uses paper weaving as a medium, reveals and hides the intertwined identities of my diasporic family history originating from Guatemala, Hong Kong and the UK.
The work was evolved and compiled from a series of cultural motifs from all three countries, and a series of private historical documents from my ancestors, using bright colours to elude the painful memories of parting that was once experienced by them.
